Former Auto Salesman Arrested For Issuing Fake Insurance Cards In Area

A former employee of an area auto dealership has been arrested for allegedly issuing fake vehicle insurance cars for a fee and keeping the money while working as a salesman.

Harold Butler, 50, of North Haven, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 4, on an active warrant for the scam which took place in August 2019, said the Milford Police.

According to police, on August 20, 2019, Milford Police received a report from Napoli Kia in regards to fraud and larceny after learning that Butler, a salesman, was issuing fake motor vehicle insurance cards for a fee to customers. 

An audit was conducted by Napoli Kia and it was discovered that there were over 100 such transactions.

Milford Police Detectives conducted a detailed investigation resulting in the arrest warrant for Butler.

Butler was charged with larceny and released on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 3.
